Community Lineup Competition Rules
The new SorareData community lineups tool allows all members to project starting XIs for upcoming gameweeks. Within the tool, users will be able to mark players as “starting,” “doubtful,” “substitute” or “out of team.” These projections will continue to feed our new lineup builder, which helps all SorareData members in their lineup-building process.
The strength of this tool is dependent on the knowledge and involvement of as many members as possible, which is why we have developed a competition that will reward the most accurate users. Starting in GW 310, all of your projections will count in this competition.
In addition to seeing your own accuracy rate, we will highlight each member’s success percentiles among all users, allowing everyone the ability to see who is the most accurate in their projections.
How will your score be calculated?
There are multiple ways to earn points within the competition, but accurately projecting starting XIs will earn the most. Points will be calculated as followed:
- Correct starting player projection = +1
- Correct bench player projection = +0.25
- Correct out of team projection = +0.1
- Doubtful player projection = +0.1 if “starting” or “substitute;” 0 if “out of squad”
- Incorrect starting player = -0.1
- Incorrect substitute or out-of-squad player: -0.05
Please note: these rules were updated on April 26, 2023 to add penalties for incorrect selections.
Additionally, users will earn bonuses for reaching certain thresholds:
if the team has between 6 and 8 Sorare cards in the starting lineup:
- +1 bonus point for 100% accuracy
if the team has between 9 and 11 sorare cards in the starting lineup:
- +3 bonus points for accurately projecting 11 of 11
- +1.5 bonus points for accurately projecting 10 of 11
- +2 bonus points for accurately projecting 10 of 10
- +1 bonus point for accurately projecting 9 of 10
- +2 bonus points for accurately projecting 9 of 9
- +1 bonus point for accurately projecting 8 of 9
As an example, let’s say you accurately predicted all 10 starters with Sorare cards for FC Rostov in their match against Krylya Sovetov in GW306, as well as 6 substitutes and one player out of the squad. In this case, you would have earned 10 points for each accurate starter projection, 2 bonus points for getting 10 out of 10 starters, 1.5 points for the 6 bench players (6 x 0.25) and 0.1 for the player out of the squad, totalling 13.6 points.
Will there be multiple leaderboards?
Yes, there will be 4 different leaderboards:
- The Global Leaderboard will be calculated based on all of your projections;
- The League Leaderboard will be calculated based on your projections for a specific league, such as the Bundesliga;
- The Team Leaderboard will be calculated based on your projections for a specific team, such as Bayern Munich;
- The Player Leaderboard will be calculated based on a specific player, such as Joshua Kimmich.
Does the competition offer rewards?
Yes! In order to encourage managers to participate, and to thank them for their diligent work, we will reward the most accurate projections as follows:
Global Leaderboard: Every 5 GW → Top 30 rewarded with Limited cards
League Leaderboard: Every 10 GW → Top 5 rewarded with Limited cards
Team and Player Leaderboards: special badges on manager gallery pages to indicate expertise
What’s next?
Once there is sufficient data, we will introduce a reliability index to help SorareData members understand the confidence level of the projected lineups. For example, if a high number of users with strong accuracy scores project a certain player to start, we will indicate that successful lineup projectors agree on that player. On the other hand, if a number of users with low accuracy scores, we will show a lower confidence rating on the projection.
